26 Aug ** IMPORTANT ALERT FOR ALL RABBIT OWNERS **
Please be aware that we have recently seen cases of Rabbit Viral Haemorrhagic Disease variant strain 2 (RVHDV-2) in our area. This is an extremely infectious disease that causes rapid death in rabbits of all ages. Older vaccines provided protection against RVHDV-1 strain, but not the RVHDV-2 variant. Fortunately a new vaccine is available which covers both variant strains. We would urge all rabbit owners to protect their bunnies with the new vaccine at the earliest opportunity. The vaccination involves a health check, followed by a single annual injection; we also recommend annual protection against Myxomatosis which needs to be given separately (at least a couple of weeks later).
