Animal medicines

In accordance with our legal obligations our policy on the supply of animal medicines is as follows:

Prescriptions are available from this practice. Our surgery can only prescribe POM-V medicines for animals that are legally under our care. You may obtain prescription medicines from us OR ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary practice or a pharmacy. However a prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary. You will be responsible for our prescription charge along with the pharmacy’s drug charge and any dispensing fee.You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be dispensed for your animal. Further information on the prices of medicines is available on request.

The general policy of this practice is to re-assess an animal requiring repeat prescriptions every 1-3 months; this may vary in individual circumstances but will never exceed 12 months. The minimum charge for a re-examination is £20.24+VAT.
